Johnathan Sodan

born: ?

died: 2 June 1824 in Goshan, Orange County, NY

facts: spelling could be Soden; of the State of New Jersey, he enlisted in the Revolutionary War at the start, and severed until the close. He served under Benedict Arnold in the Battle of Saratoga. He was also one of the guards at the hanging of Major Andre. One winter, while he was quarted in Providence, RI, he met and married, a widow with one child, Lydia Williams Gorman

Johnathan was discharged from the Continental Army at Cold Springs, on the Hudson River in Orange County, New York. At the time of his discharge, his pockets were full of Continental money, but the government never redemed this money.He had to beg his way from New York to Providence.
